My friends Dad was on a ship, coming home from The Pacific, and about 100 miles outside of San Francisco, the loud speaker blared, that "Anyone found with any contraband, including captured items, without papers, will be subject to Court Martial " He said, guys were throwing anything and everything, including pet monkeys, overboard. Those that chose to skirt those rules, cut and hid the rifle in their Duffel Bag because of apprehension at the idea that their CO would deny their request, take the item for themselves, or just order it destoryed. I understand the concept of cutting the rifle to fit in the bag but why are there so many uncut ones out there ? I was always under the assumption that "War Trophies" had to be approved by your Commanding Officer and if so ,you got a piece of paper as proof,[Capture Papers}. ![]()
